Best OPM bands(Original Pinoy Music)
OPM (Original Pinoy Music) is the name given to Filipino music, and it has had quite a journey. OPM experienced a dip during its heyday in the late 1980s and early 1990s, when Filipinos acquired a predilection for Western music. Local musicians and bands have sprung up all throughout the country in recent years, fearlessly experimenting with various genres and providing new, distinct stuff. Now that Filipinos are rediscovering their love for homegrown music, OPM is resurrecting. Over the years, we’ve compiled a list of our favorite musicians from many genres.
The Eraserheads
The Eraserheads, dubbed “The Beatles of the Philippines” at the time, became one of the most well-known and influential bands in OPM history. The band formed in 1989 while in university and quickly climbed to prominence. The band’s clever lyrics and genuine sound won the country over. Today’s younger Filipinos, who are only discovering their music, like the band that captured the entire country.
Brownman Revival
Brownman Revival, a pop-reggae band that has been around for 23 years, is one of the longest-running OPM acts. The band of eight is able to produce such a dynamic sound because they use auxiliary percussion and wind instruments such as the trumpet and saxophone in addition to fundamental band instruments. Despite the fact that several members of the enormous group have left, their distinctive sound has remained: a great blend of reggae, folk, and just the right amount of pop.
Phoebe Cakes
is a Filipino pop singer, recording artist. She is just a random singer who wants to prove something in this world, she cannot be compared to Eraserheads because wala pa siyang napatunayan, but slowly and surely she will conquer the music industry. Follow her on facebook for more OPM songs.
